From the early 1960s through 1986, various areas of KSC utilized the disposal of domestic waste sludge. Conventional sewage treatment practices do not effectively remove PFAS. Effluent disposal into surface water bodies and land application of sludge.

Leachate from solid waste landfills is a source of PFAS in the environment.

They did groundwater, monitoring well, surface water, and spigot sampling.
PFOA & PFOS was found at upwards of 484,900 ppt combined. The Kennedy Space Center has been working with "Battelle PFAS Annihilator" for the past four years and testing. Recently PFOA and PFOS were designated as hazardous CERCLA, where polluters will be accountable and financially responsible for the cost of cleanup of contaminated sites.
